Hartswood Safeguarding Policy
Hartswood Tennis Club is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of all its members. The club adheres to LTA standards on safeguarding and believes that members, coaches, administrators, and parents/guardians should always show respect and understanding for the safety and welfare of others. Verbal abuse or aggression of any kind is not acceptable and will be taken seriously.
Hartswood is a LTA Registered Venue
As the governing body of tennis in Britain, it is the LTA’s duty to promote the safety of all those who play, volunteer and support tennis in this country. The LTA is therefore committed to supporting and enabling registered venues to ensure that these standards are upheld.

To be eligible for LTA registration, venues must meet the following standards:
-
Have a set of clear safeguarding policies that have been implemented within the venue.
-
Ensure that there is strong awareness of the safeguarding policies and how to report a concern to all involved at the venue.
-
Have a Welfare Officer(s) who has undergone the necessary training, is engaged in their role and supporting the venue to promote a positive safeguarding culture.
-
Ensure that relevant roles within the venue have completed a satisfactory criminal records check and that any coaches qualified to Level 2 or above are LTA Accredited or Accredited+.
-
Have embedded safeguarding into the venue’s operations, conducting safeguarding risk assessments of relevant activities.

"I have been a Hartswood member for 8 years"
and have been passionate about tennis for most of my life.
I love the fact that tennis is both an individual and team
sport and the way that it can bring people together both on
and off court. We are a tennis family. My daughter is a social
tennis player, and my son is a performance tennis player.
I am also a club and team tennis player..
I am responsible for the welfare of Juniors at
Hartswood Tennis Club."

I am pleased to take on the role of welfare officer for adults at Hartswood tennis club, where I've been a member for three years. I've so enjoyed the supportive, inclusive environment that makes Hartswood special, and I am keen to do my bit to keep this up.As welfare officer, my job is to make sure that all adults feel safe, supported and valued on and off the court. I have spent my career working in the voluntary sector and as a social worker, I want to make sure that you enjoy being a member of this special, localclub."
